Gallery-Worth Advanced Gourd
Class Description: If you’ve taken our Beginner’s Gourd class or Advanced Gourd class, you are ready to think out-of-the-box and create a gallery-worthy medium sized gourd. We will be learning lots of new techniques and making a gourd that will take you to the next level of the craft. You will learn how to:
-Use leather dye for a variegated and high-end finish
-Make a pine needle lid with a flange, topped with a pinecone.
-Make a deep, built-up pine needle rim to accept the lid
-Use metal tacks and embellishments to adhere to the body of the piece.
Furniture tacks, jewels, wire or unusual metal pieces if you choose.
Since this is a time-consuming project, we will pre-prep your gourd for you by cutting, cleaning and drilling the gourd so you can hit the ground running.
Note that leather dye is beautiful but messy, so dress accordingly.
