Introduction to Deflected Double Weave
Class Description: Deflected double weave (DDW) creates a single cloth with multiple layers that are interlaced with each other. When the woven fabric is wet finished, the threads deflect — shifting and shrinking until the cloth is magically transformed!
From bold patterns with contrasting colors to textured fabrics with intricate designs, this weaving structure has endless possibilities.
In this class, you will learn the fundamentals of DDW structure, how to choose fibers and determine the sett for DDW, and how to weave an 8-shaft DDW pattern. Each student will weave their own scarf in 8/2 Tencel or a similar fiber.
